Architecture, Math and Science in Renaissance Italy
My summer in Italy has allowed me to bring together all past experiences and combine them with the exciting opportunity. There is an undeniable advantage to living in Italy and being submerged into the way of life, having to understand and learn the country. One of the academic courses I took while abroad was Architecture, Math, and Science in Renaissance Italy. This course included calculating latitudes, longitudes, angles, areas, and other information for map making, using survey field notes and reference tables. Computing and measuring scaled distances between reference points in order to establish relative positions of adjoining prints and enabling the shortest route possible. This experience has sharpened my critical thinking, cross-cultural and interpersonal communication, and adaptability to different circumstances.
